Canadian School Library Day celebrates the central role that school libraries play in the education and development of young people.

Canadian School Library Day 2024 celebrates every student’s right to read, and to see themselves reflected in their reading choices. Over the past couple years we have been faced with challenges from people and groups seeking to restrict student’s reading choices, and calls for schools and libraries to remove books from collections. On Canadian School Library Day we stand up for diversity and for rich reading choices for every student.

Rock Your Mocs was founded in 2011 by Jessica Jaylyn Atsye (Laguna Pueblo, NM U.S.A.) and beginning 2013, collaboratively, has been annually organized and produced by Native American event producer Melissa Sanchez(Acoma/Laguna Pueblos NM U.S.A.)

Established 2011, Rock Your Mocs, is a worldwide Indigenous Peoples social media unity event held annually. People wear their moccasins wherever their day takes them, and many take a photo, or create a video/story, and upload to social media with the hashtag #rockyourmocs. This creates an online photo album for the world to see and enjoy while simultaneously uniting Indigenous Peoples through their unique, and collective, tribal culture and heritage. Additionally, individuals, organizations, casino's, schools, museums, and Nations are taking the initiative to create their own independent events, both cultural and contemporary, throughout the world. (from rocyourmocs.org).

Roc Your Mocs week will be held from November 10 – 16, 2024, with the official day being November 15, 2024.

Please see Siwal Si'wes' Roc Your Mocs collection HERE. 😊

How to join in:

  • Wear your moccasins or a turquoise Awareness Ribbon or a RYM T-shirt or organize an event.
  • Take a photo, create a video or story and upload to social media and use the hashtag #RockYourMocs and/or #RockYourMocs2024
  • Check the hashtag #RockYourMocs to see what's happening worldwide!
  • Tag @RockYourMocs in your posts, stories and reels
  • Please follow us on Facebook, Instagram & Twitter!

Enjoy rocking your mocs! 😊
