One of the primary functions of the Board of Education is to develop policy for the effective and efficient operation of our school district. The Board sets the vision, guiding principles and goals for the district, and policies and procedures reflect those values and provide the foundation and guidance for the work being undertaken throughout the organization.

Policies assist the district with compliance, risk management, and creating working and learning environments that are safe, inclusive, and equitable for all students and employees.

The Board of Education develops policies with the assistance of management and input from partner groups and the public. Policies and procedures are “living” documents. As part of the policy framework each policy and procedure is reviewed periodically to determine whether it remains appropriate and relevant to our work.  Board policies serve as sources of information and guidelines to all who may be interested in or connected with the operation of the School District. The diagram below is a visual representation of the Policy Development process.
