UPDATE

  • Our Feeding Futures department has been teaming up with local food producers to bring you the freshest bites possible — and support our local economy while we're at it! 🍐🍎🍇
  • Whipping up delicious creations from scratch
  • Those Asian pears, apples, and plums you enjoyed? Picked straight from a neighbor's tree the morning before delivery. Our muffins? Made with berries lovingly hand-picked by a local family just 8 minutes from Facilities. And yes — our smoothies, muffins, and trail mix bars are all made in-house, with as many local ingredients as we can get our hands on. 💪🌱
  • We want everyone to know the love, care, and community spirit baked into every bite. So starting today and into early next week, every school will display our new “Fact of the Day" sheet. These fun facts will share where your food came from, or a cool historical tidbit about what's being served. It's a tasty way to learn — and a great way to reconnect students with the story behind their food.

What is the Feeding Futures school food program?

The Ministry has allocated $71.5 million per year in dedicated, multi-year funding to school districts to enhance student food security through expanding or establishing school food programs. This funding initiative is a cornerstone of the government's comprehensive Feeding Futures School Food Programs Framework, reflecting our commitment to ensuring students are well-nourished for optimal learning and health outcomes. The Feeding Futures School Food Programs (FFSFP) funding addresses critical challenges identified by schools in the province, including sustainable food funding and human resources.

What is the goal of this new school food initiative?

The Feeding Futures initiative aims to address sustainable nutritional needs, and helping to alleviate the impact of rising food costs for families. With this initiative, we are working together as a community to give children the best start in life. By nourishing bodies with healthy food and promoting food literacy initiatives, we aim to foster a sustainable, healthy, and nourished future.
