We have some wonderful news to share with you!
Earlier this fall, students from Christine Morrison were offered an opportunity to participate in a BC-wide contest called How Can We Help Bring the Salmon Come Home. This project was sponsored by several organizations such as The Adam River Salmon Society, Mountain Equipment Co-op, Telus, Pacific Salmon Foundation, Askew's, Columbia Shuswap Regional District, Quaaout Lodge Fresh Books Cloud Accounting and the Shuswap Naturalist Club.
Several interested Grade Five and Six Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal students from Christine Morrison chose to document their project by creating a video, with support from Lolahawk (local Elder), Eddie Gardner (local Elder and defender of wild salmon), teachers, Lorien Osborne and Gisele Dupuis, Vice-Principal, Shannon Grieg and Aboriginal Cultural Worker, Judy Cathers.
Last week, CME received notice that they won the contest, which includes a $500.00 prize which they can use towards a field trip.
We are very fortunate to have such a creative, innovative group of educators and students working together, spreading a message of stewardship and care for our natural resources! 😊
