2012 BURSARY/SCHOLARSHIP GENERAL INFORMATION

READ CAREFULLY

Mission Community Foundation is pleased to announce that it is accepting applications for Bursaries and Scholarships. Mission Community Foundation reserves the right to refrain from making an award if, in its opinion, the applicant does not meet the qualifications specified either in this section or in the description of the award.

Candidates are responsible for obtaining, fully completing and submitting the 2012 Bursary/Scholarship Application Form (pages 8-11) by the deadline.(4 p.m., Tuesday, February 28, 2012).

To fully qualify for awards from funds administered by Mission Community Foundation (or otherwise stipulated), well rounded candidates must:

Be completing Grade 12 from Mission Public School District; or attending school in another community and be a resident of the Mission community in the current year.
Have satisfactory school graduation credits. Academic standing is important to post-secondary institutes. Degree granting institutes may require a higher academic standing than a career college/skills training centre.
Genuine financial need may be considered for some bursaries.
Must be registered for 3 courses by September 30, 2013. Unclaimed awards are returned to the Foundation after September 30, 2013.

Funds may have restrictions and specific criteria established by the benefactor. The Committee will allocate available funding from the funds to the intent of the students anticipated trade or career path.

The Bursary/Scholarship Committee also receives applications and interviews on behalf of these organizations:

Mission Business Professional Women’s Club
Aldergrove Credit Union
Mission Health Care Auxiliary Society
Mission Rotary Club

Candidates will be notified regarding interviews (April 2, 3, 4) and award allocation. Recipients of the Bursary/Scholarship awards will be announced at the Mission Community Foundation Bursary/Scholarship Awards presentation event, May 2, held at Clarke Theatre.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING APPLICATIONS

Application must be made on the"2012 Application Form" (Pages 8 - 11). Include supplementary documentation requested from CHECK LIST.
Be aware there are specific criteria for some funds.
Biographical Sketch of the CANDIDATE'S OWN AUTHORSHIP, (one page only) and Summary of Accomplishments (one page only)(12 point font only).
Bursaries are based on financial need in conjunction with academic performance. Further documentation may be required.
All Application Documentation MUST BE ON LETTER SIZE (8½ x 11) WHITE PAPER.
Application forms should BE TYPEWRITTEN or BLOCK PRINTED 12 POINT FONT. (Use computer disk provided to your counselor).
Arrange documents in the CHECK LIST order of ATTACHMENTS. Pages 8-11
NO STAPLES . Documents should be secured with a PAPER CLIP ONLY.
DO NOT USE FANCY COVER PROTECTOR SHEETS. REMOVE BUSINESS CARDS.
The GENERAL CHARACTER REFERENCE requested should be from outside the school community. A person who knows you well. (e.g. Neighbour, Minister, Doctor, Employer, Coach, etc.).

Failure to complete an application as directed by these Instructions may result in being REJECTED

4 PM, TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2012
