2007 BURSARY/SCHOLARSHIP GENERAL INFORMATION
Mission Foundation is pleased to announce that it is accepting applications for Bursaries and Scholarships. Mission Foundation reserves the right to refrain from making an award if, in its opinion, the applicant does not meet the qualifications specified either in this section or in the description of the award.
Candidates are responsible for obtaining, fully completing and submitting the 2007 Bursary/Scholarship Application Form (pages 7 -10) before deadline date (February 28, 2007).
To fully qualify for awards administered by Mission Foundation (or otherwise stipulated), candidates must:
- Be a graduating student of School District #75 in the current year, AND/OR - Be a resident of Mission District.
- Have satisfactory school graduation credits. Academic standing is important to post-secondary institutes. Degree granting institutes may require a higher academic standing than a career college.
- Have genuine financial need (Bursaries only).
- Must be enrolled in minimum 3 courses commencing September 30, 2009.
Unclaimed awards are forfeited after September 30, 2009
The Bursary/Scholarship Selection Committee also receives applications and interviews on behalf of these organizations and flowthrough funds:
- Abbotsford-Mission Business Professional Women’s Club
- Aldergrove Credit Union
- Calnek Family Fund
- Paula Chmilar Memorial Fund
- Circle of Wisdom Society (COWS) Fund
- Kinsmen Club of Mission
- Marilyn McClinton Memorial Fund
- Mission Arts Council
- Mission Health Care Auxiliary Society
- Mission Rotary Club
- University College of the Fraser Valley (certain Hollister Scholarships)
Candidates will be notified regarding interviews (April 2,3,4) and award selection.
Recipients of the Bursary/Scholarship awards will be announced at the Mission Foundation Bursary/Scholarship Awards presentation event, May 2.
Amounts of awards may vary from $500 -$3000, funds may have more than one recipient.
Some have restrictions and specific criteria. This is a competition.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING APPLICATIONS
- Application must be made on the "2007
Application Form" Include supplementary documentation
requested from CHECK LIST.
Be aware of specific criteria and do not apply unless you meet qualifications. - Biographical Sketch of the CANDIDATE’S OWN AUTHORSHIP, and Summary of Accomplishments neither exceeding one page.
- Bursaries are based on financial need in conjunction with academic performance. Further documentation may be required.
- All Application Documentation MUST BE ON LETTER SIZE (8½ x 11) WHITE PAPER .
- Application forms should BE TYPEWRITTEN or BLOCK PRINTED. (Use computer disk provided to your counselor).
- Arrange documents in the CHECK LIST order of ATTACHMENTS.
- NO STAPLES. Documents should be secured with a PAPER
CLIP ONLY. DO NOT USE FANCY COVER PROTECTOR SHEETS.
REMOVE BUSINESS CARDS. - The GENERAL CHARACTER REFERENCE requested MUST
NOT be from current or immediately past academic teachers or counselors,
but rather a person who knows you well. (e.g. Neighbour, Minister,
Doctor, Employer, Coach, etc.).
Failure to complete an application as directed by these Instructions may result in being REJECTED
